Beyond Body Beyond Mind

Beyond Body Beyond Mind came from processing loss and grief over our loved ones and finding meaning in death. The work explores realms beyond the 3D world.

"Life and death are two sides of the same coin, one completing the meaning of the other. But before I can embrace the concept, please allow me to grieve for as long as necessary until I can see that loss, too, is a profound gift.

I meet my departed loved ones in my dreams. I see the impact they have had on me in my life from small things like daily activities to big decisions I make for my life, as if they are still around me, with me, just not in a tangible form." - Wan-Yi

Beyond Body Beyond Mind explores the transcendental meaning of death, intangible realms, and a construct beyond the confines of the reasoning mind. The artwork seeks to initiate conversations around death, loss and grief. Such topics and experiences, often considered personal, are, in fact, universal at their cores, before the pandemic and even more so after the pandemic when the world lost over 6 million people to covid. Integrating difficult conversations that we traditionally shy away from into our mainstream culture can have transformative effects in nurturing a supportive environment within our society.
